CME for MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.25 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC points.
OVERVIEW
This webcast discusses economic issues related to TAVR and resultant implications for availability of TAVR in various settings. Primary topics will cover health economics of TAVR including costs, reimbursement and outcomes. Panel discussion will also include comparative clinical and cost-effectiveness of TAVR and SAVR, and practical considerations for further expansion of TAVR.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this program, participants should be able to:
1) Identify and discuss the determinants of cost differentials between TAVR and SAVR
2) Discuss the determinants of cost-effectiveness of TAVR in differing contexts
3) Identify ongoing considerations and challenges for further increasing clinical- and cost-effectiveness of TAVR
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity is designed for interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, clinical cardiologists, vascular medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
ACTIVITY EVALUATION
Evaluation by questionnaire will address content, presentation, possible bias, and future educational needs.
