TAVR in Low Risk Patients

CME ACCREDITATION AND DESIGNATION

CME logo 2017The Cardiovascular Research Foundation is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Cardiovascular Research Foundation designates this activity for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

OVERVIEW

Treatment innovations in the field of interventional cardiology have changed the lives of heart patients around the world. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a less invasive alternative to traditional valve replacement surgery and is already being used successfully in high-risk patients. This webcast discussion will move beyond high-risk patients and explore the new boundaries of transcatheter therapy. Participants will learn from discussions about considerations for low-risk patient populations, treatment decision making, and recent clinical trial data.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

1) Identify results and endpoints including mortality, stroke, re-hospitalization, and durability.

2) Describe developments in recent TAVR low-risk studies.

3) Summarize perspectives on shared decision making for the heart team.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This activity is designed for interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, clinical cardiologists, vascular medicine specialists, and other healthcare professionals.

ACTIVITY EVALUATION

Evaluation by questionnaire will address content, presentation, possible bias, and future educational needs.
