OrbusNeich’s COMBO™ Dual Therapy Stent Featured in TCT 2013 Satellite Symposium
SAN FRANCISCO – OrbusNeich today announced that the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent was featured in a satellite symposium at TCT 2013 in San Francisco. The session, entitled “The COMBO Dual Therapy Stent – Setting the New Standard of Stenting,” was chaired by Roxana Mehran, M.D., of Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York City.
“The COMBO Dual Therapy Stent is the next-next-generation drug eluting stent,” said Dr. Mehran. “By combining the anti-restenotic power of a drug eluting stent with the pro-healing endothelial progenitor cell capture technology, the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent promises to address the risk of restenosis in the near term while offering the stability of a healed artery over the longer term.”
In a presentation entitled “Improving Current DES Limitations,” Renu Virmani, M.D., of the CVPath Institute Inc. in Gaithersburg, Md., presented data comparing the healing profile of the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent with an everolimus eluting stent in an atherosclerotic rabbit model.
“We observed a statistically significant improvement in stent strut coverage for the COMBO Stent versus the everolimus eluting stent,” said Dr. Virmani. “These data are indicative of COMBO’s enhanced healing profile.”
Stephen W.L. Lee, M.D., of the Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong, China, presented clinical data from the EGO-COMBO extension study showing durable outcomes as well as excellent early healing and optimal neointimal suppression out to 24 months following placement of the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent. (News Release – Oct. 29, 2013)
Robbert de Winter, M.D., Ph.D., of the Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam, presented an update on the REMEDEE Registry, a post-market registry to evaluate the long-term safety and performance of the COMBO Dual Therapy Stent in routine clinical practice, confirming that the registry is one third of the way toward its goal of enrolling 1,000 patients.
