Tips for Convincing Your Boss to Attend TCT 2016

-
Getting approval to attend a conference is often a two-fold process. First, you need to demonstrate the benefits of the conference to your organization and then you'll need to persuade your boss that it's worth the investment of time and money. Here are some ways you can convince your boss that you should attend TCT.
- Make a case for attending TCT by clearly explaining how educational and research activities at TCT will help fulfill your goals at work. TCT offers hundreds of sessions on complex coronary and peripheral interventions, structural heart disease, imaging technologies and much more. Review the TCT program and identify specific tracks and sessions that will benefit your patients as well as your career development.
- TCT 2016 will feature more than 20 late-breaking trials and first-report investigations, as well as hundreds of oral and poster abstracts, presented by leading researchers from all over the world.
- TCT features high-definition live case transmissions from renowned medical centers all over world that provide attendees with the opportunity to view interventional procedures unavailable to most interventionalists who do not attend TCT.
- The Interactive Technology Center offers practical, hands-on training on the latest devices and techniques for several interesting and evolving therapies such as LAA/Mitral Valve Interventions, TAVR, Peripheral Access, CTO and Complex PCI.
- Use TCT as an opportunity to earn Continuing Medical Education credits.
- TCT offers over 50 CME credits, more than any other meeting of its kind. You can also earn up to 30 credit points for Maintenance of Certification.

- Benefit as many people as possible. Offer to share information with colleagues. Send your colleagues the TCT program in advance and ask them which sessions or presentations interest them. Attend them and report on them when you return.
- As a TCT attendee, you’ll have access to Virtual TCT (live and on-demand viewing of Main Arena and Live Case Theater sessions). You’ll also be able to downloas presentation slides from TCTMD to share with your colleagues.
- If sending you to a conference isn’t a line item in the budget, persuading your boss to pay your way can be difficult. Plan ahead and ask about any funds your institution might already have in the budget for career development.
- TCT offers several ways to help defray the costs of attending TCT. If your abstract is selected as an oral presentation, TCT registration fees may be reduced. For fellows, TCT offers free registration and there are a limited amount of scholarships available that cover travel and housing costs.
- Accomplish multiple goals on your trip to TCT. In addition to attending educational and hands-on training sessions, use the opportunity to connect with colleagues and introduce yourself to new people. TCT gives you plenty of opportunities to share your medical knowledge and learn how other physicians around the world tackle daily challenges.
- TCT offers extensive networking opportunities for fellows and young physicians such as Meet and Greets, Mentoring, and Meet the Expert sessions.
