Year in Review: Physicians Pick the Biggest News of 2018

TCTMD reporters asked a range of experts about developments that rocked their fields this year and may profoundly affect patients in years to come.

In the last few weeks of 2018, the TCTMD news team reached out to physicians around the globe, representing the busiest fields in cardiology, to find out what they believed to be the biggest news of the year. Across multiple specialties, physicians singled out the new cholesterol guidelines, the two MitraClip (Abbott) trials, the rise of CT imaging, and the unexpected success of the tafamidis (Vyndaqel; Pfizer) for patients with amyloid cardiomyopathy. Many more topics and trials, however, were also on the tips of their tongues.
