2019-2020 Fellow Talk Blogger

Mahesh V. Madhavan, MD, is a third-year cardiology fellow at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he also completed his training in internal medicine. He was educated at the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Mahesh has also worked with research mentors at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) and the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at Columbia University since medical school on projects related to risk stratification in patients undergoing revascularization for CAD, novel techniques to assess myocardial function to predict events after valve replacement in the elderly, and treatments for high-risk pulmonary embolism. Over the next 2 years he will be pursuing a Master’s in biostatistics at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health while also continuing to be involved in research. Mahesh was inspired to join the field of interventional cardiology by his father, a practicing interventionalist in Pittsburgh, PA, and hopes to use the Fellow Talk blog as a platform to share experiences, thoughts, and interests as a fellow with other trainees on a national and international scale. You can find him on Twitter @MVMadhavanMD.
