Maryjane Farr, MD
Maryjane Farr, MD, joined the University of Pennsylvania in February 2026, as Professor of Medicine, Section Chief of Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Heart Transplant, and Director of Heart Transplant Clinical and Translational Research at the Penn Transplant Institute.
Farr started her transplant career at Columbia University Medical Center, rising to Medical Director in 2014 and receiving an Endowed Chair that supported her research. She moved to UTSW in 2021 to become Section Chief at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Medical Director of Heart Transplant and held an Endowed Chair as Professor of Medicine.
Farr has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, spent 9 years with the Organ Procurement & Transplantation Network, and has participated in several committees with the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and American Society of Transplantation, currently serving as the Chair of the AST’s Thoracic and Critical Care Communities in Practice. She is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University (BA'89), Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, AOA ('98) and the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health (MSc'12), and will complete an MPH in Implementation Science in May 2026, also at the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health.
